From $200 to $4000 and back to $400: My Stock Flight

So I decided I wanted to learn about options back in May 2025. I watched over 20 YouTube videos trying to understand the concept. I was shocked to see how fast people could "print money." These traders were taking $10K accounts and turning it into $100K in only a few months. Of course my thought is, if you can do it, I can do it too.

The TakeOff

I decided to take the risk and jump the wild world of trading. With $200 in my pocket and a heart full of dreams, I thought, "How hard can it be?" Little did I know, I was about to embark on a rollercoaster ride that would make even the bravest theme park enthusiasts queasy. - **Day 1:** I bought a stock because I liked its logo. Spoiler alert: it went up! - **Day 10:** I learned about "diversification" and bought a bunch of random stocks like I was collecting Pokémon cards. Gotta catch 'em all, right? - **Month 2:** I was officially a trading guru! I even started giving unsolicited advice to my friends. (Sorry, friends!) My Account was now $4000.

Emergency Landing: Going Down

Just when I thought I was on top of the world, the market decided to play a cruel joke on me. I went from "Wall Street Wizard" to "Clueless Novice" in record time. - **The Great Sell-Off:** I panicked when one of my stocks dipped. Large companies were reporting earnings in the coming days. As companies announced earnings, I watched stocks grow $20+ dollars overnight. Traders were turning $1 options into $3,000 in one day. I decied to GO BIG. All big companies like Apple, Tesla, and Amazon were going annouce their earnings soon. I decided to buy large Call options hoping to catch the large price jumps. These companies were sure to meet or exceed Earnings. This "can't-miss". Spoiler alert: IT MISSED. After earnings, investors sold and sold and sold.

The Aftermath: Survive to Learn

And just like that, my glorious $4000 became a distant memory. I now have a new trading motto: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is... and you’ll probably lose all your money." So here I am, back to square one with my $400, but with a wealth of knowledge and a slightly lighter wallet. - **Moral of the Story:** Remember, folks, trading is a journey, not a destination. Just make sure you bring an ice pack for the rough landings.
